Gun Safety Conference at UN Headquarters
On November 19th the United Nations Office for
Disarmament Affairs held a conference for discussing the newest technologies
for weapon marking and tracing. Governmental and military organizations, as
well as reputable companies in the field of weapons technology and
marking, were invited to the UN headquarters in New York to discuss recently developed gun
safety technology.
Participants included representatives from the US
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interpol, and Heckler & Koch, to name a few. The
goal of this summit was to evaluate technologies and solutions for firearms
coding and record-keeping.
Firearms Coding with Laser Technology
Gernot Schrems, head of the application laboratory at Trotec's World Headquarters in Marchtrenk Austria,
was given the opportunity to present the latest in laser technology for marking
gun metal and plastics.
Gernot provided insight on Trotec's role in the advancement of the UID market as well as Trotec's cooperation with
international firearm producers and governments for marking and tracing guns.
The participants were especially interested in the high precision and
quality of the permanent marking, which were discussed in the Q&A session.
