Trotec Laser, Inc. Acquires Engraving Systems Support (ESS)

The Laser Manufacturer Purchases One of the Largest U.S. Laser Distributors

On February 7, 2017 Trotec Laser, Inc. announced it is in negotiations to acquire Engraving Systems Support (ESS), effective mid-February, 2017.

Trotec Laser, Inc. was established in the United States in 2002; over the past six years, the business has grown more than ten-fold. The growing company expects that 2017 will be another robust year. The acquisition of one of the largest and most successful distributors is a key component of Trotec's 2017 aggressive growth plan.

The company plans to maintain the ESS physical location of the Dade City, FL office as well as the Richmond, VA satellite. ESS staff, including executive managers Buddy Jones and David Baldwin, have joined the Trotec team and will continue to support existing ESS customers as well as new Trotec customers.

"We are thrilled about the partnership with Buddy and ESS, and the benefits it provides to our customers," says Warren Knipple, President of Trotec Laser, Inc. "It helps fuel our growth as a company and represents new opportunities to provide our customers with the highest quality products, technical support, and sales support. The ESS acquisition will help catapult Trotec's growth and expansion, especially in the southeast region of the country," says Warren Knipple, Trotec President.

Over the course of three decades, ESS has developed a portfolio of ongoing support solutions, and has a long history of success working with lasers, engravers, and router systems. Trotec states that the absorption of the ESS business into its business portfolio will add value to its sales force and customers alike.

"This will come as a great shock to many in the industry," say Buddy Jones, ESS President. "ESS has been a trusted source for Universal Laser brand products for 26 years, and we take the trust of our customers very seriously. We feel a great deal of responsibility to provide them with equipment that will allow their business to produce the highest quality products for their customers, and allow them to be as efficient as possible. This sense of responsibility to our customers is exactly what drove us to make the decision to partner with Trotec Laser," Jones explains.

"We have several major initiatives planned for further expansion throughout the course of 2017. We are most looking forward to watching how our increased product portfolio and support capabilities will help expand our customers' businesses and create opportunities for them," says Warren Knipple.

Project 365 Gets a Trotec!

When the Trotec team heard about Campbell and his foundation Project 365 we knew we had to get involved!
Campbell is 12 years old and has spent the last 3 years creating beautiful toys and gifts for unwell children, adults, and people that need a smile. Campbell's bears have gone far and wide across the world.

Campbell's goal was to have a laser cutter machine to help produce insert joints that keep his bears arms and legs moving. He currently hand cuts, files, and sands these parts, so a laser cutter will make this process so much easier on him!

Trotec matched donations made to his GoFundMe page dollar for dollar to ensure Campbell could get a Speedy 360 and help many more people throughout the world.
Reece from our Australia office arrived with the Speedy 360 to show Campbell and the P365 family how to use the laser. After using it, Campbell discovered the laser would save him 4 hours a week and he can't wait to start making all sorts of gifts like puzzles!
We cannot wait to see where this laser will take year 4 of this great organization.

'Tis The Season of Giving

Here at Trotec we believe in giving back to the community is a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Every year we pick a charity that we believe makes a big difference within our community. This year we choose Caps 'N Coats Kids Holiday Program and The Ascend Foundation. Two amazing charities dedicated to helping better the lives of area families and youth.

Caps N Coats is a charity established through the Capuchin Soup Kitchen which provides winter apparel for children ages 11 and under. What's so wonderful about this program is that it not only gives coats to children, but also provides families the opportunity to share a meal by offering holiday themed food baskets.

Earlier in December Trotec employees headed out to the stores to purchase boys and girls coats in a variety of sizes. In addition to the generous donations from our employees, Trotec matched every coat purchased! Once all the coats were collected a group of employees headed down to help distribute the coats. Each child aided by a volunteer picked out their new coat, hat, mittens, and scarves. It was truly a rewarding experience to help this very deserving families head home in their new warm winter coats.

Trotec also donated time and money to The Ascend Foundation, who encourages youth leadership within the community through education, arts, and community services initiatives. The Ascend Foundation has spent many years establishing itself within the community. Its efforts have not gone unnoticed with
its number of youth outreach movements continually supported by the public. To help the foundation continue to break barriers in the community and better the lives of our youth Trotec made a financial contribution to the organization and employees donated time during a holiday meal dirve.

To join Trotec in supporting these amazing charities please visit their websites.

President Obama Uses Trotec Speedy 300

Obama Tours TechShop
On June 17, 2014, President Obama visited Pittsburgh to highlight creative ways to boost manufacturing and to promote his program that helps provide entrepreneurs access to more than $5 billion in advanced manufacturing equipment. During his visit, he took a tour of Pittsburgh's TechShop to see first hand how entrepreneurs are utilizing manufacturing "maker spaces" such as TechShop. President Obama saw several demonstrations, including one on a 3D printer and a Trotec Speedy 300 laser system.

"We need to encourage more and more entrepreneurs and inventors to not just take root here, but have access to equipment and technology," President Obama said.

Speedy 300 Demonstration
James Gyre of Naked Geometry demonstrated the laser process, creating a wood ornament entitled “Prayer for Peace” on a Trotec Speedy 300 laser. “It's a mandala of abundance, life and earth. It contains the numbers 12 (for plant life) and phi (for human life) and the infinity symbol.” explains Gyre. The fine detail of the design and intricacy of the cuts, showcased the Speedy 300's speed, precision, and intelligent engineering. After the laser processing was completed, Mr. Obama held it up and declared with a smile,  “This is pretty”.

Trotec's World Headquarters Certified GreenBuilding

Zero Energy
Trotec was awarded the GreenBuilding Certificate from the European Commission at an ÖNBG (Austrian Society for Sustainable Building) event. Trotec received this prestigious award for the new World Headquarters building, which opened in October 2013, in Marchtrenk, Austria.

Setting New Standards
The building is categorized as a large-scale solar plant because the majority of the required energy is obtained from the sun. The solar energy is stored by means of ground storage, a buffer, and a fire water tank. The total power requirement is produced by the in-house photovoltaic plant. Another source of energy is the well water, which, according to the season, it is used for heating or cooling.

The GreenBuilding Program
In 2005 the European Commission launched the GreenBuilding Programme (GBP). GreenBuilding is a voluntary program aimed at improving the energy efficiency of non-residential buildings in Europe.

The program encourages owners of non-residential buildings to take cost-effective measures by enhancing the energy efficiency of their building. Currently, 958 buildings are certified as GreenBuildings.
