In Memoriam: Walter Just

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Mr. Walter Just, founder and Trodat Group supervisory board member, on Nov. 14, 2012 in Wels, Austria.

Mr. Just was born in Vienna on July 24, 1921. He was not only a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather for three generations of his own family, but he embodied Trodat and was a leader to all employees of the Trodat group of companies all over the world.

Under Mr. Just's guidance, Trodat grew from a small business to its present state - a company with over 30 subsidiaries, distributed in 15 countries, with more than 1,000 employees. Now, Trodat is the world's largest stamp manufacturer and Trotec Laser is the technology leader for laser marking, cutting, and engraving systems.

In 1976, the Austrian president awarded Walter Just the professional title of Kommerzialrat, an honorary doctorate awarded to persons of merit in Austria. After handing over the management of Trodat in 1984, Mr. Just had more time to devote to cultural things. He is the spiritual father of the Signs of Life Museum in Wels as well as the founder and patron of the Wagner Festival in Wels. In addition, he was able to strengthen its activities in the Rotary Club and, in 1990, was awarded the designation of "Paul Harris Fellow" of Rotary International. In June 2012, he received the silver medal of the province of Upper Austria.

Mr. Just was a great asset to the Trodat and Trotec organizations both as a leader and a friend he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies goes out to his family during this time of mourning.
